Sunshine is the Brimbank end of our service area, a town centre built around a major transport hub where Metro and V/Line trains meet one of Melbourne’s big suburban bus interchanges. The housing is a mix of period and postwar homes with newer townhouse infill, and the postwar streets are generally wider with easier driveways than the inner cottage suburbs, which usually makes truck access more straightforward. The exceptions are the busy town centre around Hampshire and Devonshire Roads and the tighter period pockets, which need timing. Two Anderson Road level crossings have already been grade-separated, so the old boom-gate delays there are gone. We plan a Sunshine move to use the wider streets where we can and time the busy centre where we must.
Every Sunshine move starts with the access, because that decides the truck, the crew and the carry. Here is what we plan around:
- A mix of period and postwar homes with newer townhouse infill; postwar streets are generally wider
- A major Metro, V/Line and bus interchange makes the town centre busy
- Two Anderson Road level crossings already grade-separated: no more boom-gate delay there
- Easier truck access than the inner cottage suburbs, apart from the centre and period pockets
We know streets like Hampshire Road, Devonshire Road, Harvester Road and the access that comes with them. Send your pickup and drop-off addresses with your quote and we will tell you exactly how we would handle the street, the carry and any lift, stairs or rear lane.
Not sure how your home will move? Pick your home type and confirm the access with the Inner-West Move Planner to see the crew, truck and carry your Sunshine move needs, then send the result with your quote.
In Brimbank the dedicated works-zone permit is for construction vehicles, so for a removal the closer fit is a short-term service or tradesperson parking exemption, with a skip permit handled separately and a fee applying. In practice most Sunshine moves do not need it: the postwar streets here are generally wider with easier driveways than the inner cottage suburbs, so a truck can usually find a sensible, legal loading spot. The exceptions are the busy town centre around Hampshire and Devonshire Roads and the tighter period pockets, which we time rather than fight. We scout the access in advance and plan the loading spot around the home and the street.
Is a Sunshine move easier than the inner cottage suburbs?
Often, yes. The postwar streets here are generally wider with easier driveways than Seddon or Yarraville, so a truck can usually find a sensible legal loading spot. The town centre and older period pockets are the parts we time more carefully.
Is the town centre around Hampshire Road busy for loading?
It can be, given Sunshine is a major Metro, V/Line and bus interchange. For a home or unit near the centre we scout a legal spot and time the loading to avoid the busiest periods.
Did the level-crossing removals change access?
For the better. The two Anderson Road level crossings have been grade-separated, so the old boom-gate delays there are gone, which makes routing a truck through that part of Sunshine smoother.
How much does a move in Sunshine cost?
Our online-quote rates start at $200/hour for two movers and a truck ($250 for three, $400 for a larger crew with two trucks), and you get a clear indicative quote up front for your specific move. No surprises on the day.
